Lomas are a rare geological formation. In fact, there are only three places in the world with lomas, and the Rio Grande Valley is one of them! But they are in danger of being destroyed. Many of the lomas are within the Port of Brownsville Navigation District. Proposed LNG and other Port of Brownsville industrialization threaten the lomas and their ecological benefits.

Save RGV is working to raise awareness of the existence of lomas in the Rio Grande Valley, their importance, and to convince the Port Commissioners and other elected officials to preserve and protect the lomas.
